The authors studied the arteries of the heart of chick embryos (aorta, anonyma and pulmonary arteries). They describe: (a) the morphogenesis of these arteries; (b) the ability of these arteries to survive and to differentiate when cultivated in vitro; (c) the way the arteries reacted to the presence of a foreign body in the lumen.
