Low-profile ferrite loaded conical antenna

In this paper, a low-profile ferrite loaded conical antenna operating in the VHF/UHF band for UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) platform is proposed. The proposed antenna is consist of conical radiator and cylindrical ferrite. The substrate of conical radiator is made up of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene to reduce weight of the antenna. The cylindrical ferrite is employed to improve the gain of the antenna in the low frequency band. The size of proposed antenna is 240 × 240 × 50 mm 3 . The performances of the proposed antenna with and without UAV are compared. The proposed antenna gain is higher than theoretical limit gain in the low frequency band.
