Ambulatory Hernia Surgery

In 1969, when I was starting my surgical career as an intern at the Massachusetts Central Hospital, the routine patient with an inguinal hernia was admitted the night before the scheduled operation and was not discharged until the skin stitches were removed on the seventh postoperative day. (Ryan)
