SOCIO-ECONOMIC AND HEALTH PROBLEMS OF SCHEDULED TRIBES IN MODERN INDIA-AN OVERVIEW

Usually most of the Indian tribes have been living in the forests and hills usually earn their livelihood by means of food gathering, hunting and fishing. They suffer from extreme discrimination and lead a life of misery and destitution. Problems which Indian tribes face can be sectorally divided as Problems of Poverty, Health Problems and social problems like lack of education etc. The paper aims to study the some of the problems faces the STs in India based on secondary data and suggestions are given for policy implication through social work practice.
