A system for communicating information, for use particularly in hydrocarbon wells, including one or more radio frequency transponders designed to suppress rotation and random motion so as to extend coupling time with a radio frequency reader. Various transponder designs are disclosed, including spherical one with centre of mass away from geometric centre.
