Size-induced bound states in quasitwo-dimensional semiconductor systems
1992
The model of zero-range potential is used to calculate bound states in size-quantized films. It is shown that bound states that do not exist in bulk materials are created in such systems. The absorption (or spontaneous emission) of electromagnetic waves is considered taking account of these states and the conditions required for their experimental observation are discussed
