A urine measuring device and method for determining the density of the urine

1993
Described is a urine measuring device (10) with a collector (14), a holder (36) for the collector (14), a mount (12) connected to the holder (36) via an electrical force transducer (38) that produces a signal representing the weight of the collector (14) and of the urine contained therein, a computing element (104) that reduces this signal by the tare weight of the collector (14) and divides the resulting value by the relative density of the urine, and with a display unit (44) to display the resulting values for total volume of urine (40) and the average volume flow of urine in a certain period of time. To compensate for a slant in the housing or the mounting for the device (10) and thus to compensate for a faulty measurement of the weight there are two angle sensors (42) arranged in two planes, one above the other, to generate a signal indicating a slant in the mounting (42). The calculator (104) uses trigonometric functions to effect a correction of the signal generated by the force transducer (38).
