Canberra: Dr. Jim and Senator Jim

Oenator James Richard McClelland and Dr James Ford Cairns, MP are both Labor Party intellectuals but in most ways they are opposites. Both had military service, both held high Ministerial posts, both are aged 60, but Jim McClelland is an elitist while Jim Cairns is the erstwhile hero of all Labor militants. It is significant that both, though for very different reasons, have recently expressed their dissatisfaction, even disillusion, with the Australian Parliamentary system.
