Apparatus for radiant energy

2007
An apparatus comprising: a) a hub (40) for concentrating light and redirecting incident radiant energy, light concentrator having an optical axis; b) a separate spectral separator (32) of the light concentrator and disposed along the optical axis and in the path of the radiant energy redirected concentrated, the spectral separator comprising: (i) a first planar surface (44) treated to reflect a first spectral band of light received from the light concentrator toward a first focal region and to transmit a second spectral band; (Ii) a second flat surface (46) spaced from the first planar surface, the second flat surface being treated to return to reflect the second spectral band through the front surface and toward a second focal region that is separated from the first focal region; c) receiving first and second (34, 36) of light, wherein the first receiver (34) of light is disposed near the first focal region for receiving the first spectral band and the second receiver (36) of light is disposed nearest the second focal region for receiving the second spectral band, and wherein the apparatus is for solar energy, the second flat surface (46) is oblique with respect to the first flat surface; and first and second receivers (34, 36) of light are photovoltaic devices, or thermo-termovoltaicos for sun light energy of wavelengths in the respective spectral regions.
