Study on the Influence of Multipath Interference on the Radio Frequency Signal in the Inter-Satellite Microwave Photonic Links

2016
In this work, the multipath distortion model is presented to investigate signal distortion and power fluctuation induced by the microwave photonic links in the presence of multipath interference. This model takes into account important aspects of quality of the demodulation signal of microwave photonic radio frequency transmission link such as power fluctuation, signal correlation, interference coefficient and the number of interference. The simulation results show that the modulated RF signal is mainly affected by the interference coefficient and the number of interference. Correlation coefficient of original and modulated signals is 0.98 while power fluctuation is less than 0.4db at the interference = -30db with just one the number of interference, In this case, the signal is not distorted with stable power. However, the Correlation coefficient decreases sharply, just less than 0.5, while power fluctuation is more than 3db. In addition, signal distortion and power fluctuation are also affected by correlation coefficient at the same the number of interference.
