Vulnerabilidade socioecológica nas áreas ocupadas nos municípios de Caraguatatuba e São Sebastião, litoral norte de São Paulo: medidas e representações

This paper presents a temporal analysis of the vulnerability in the coastal region comprising the municipalities ofCaraguatatuba and Sao Sebastiao, based on the methodology to operationalize the concept of socio-ecological vulnerabilitypresented by Anazawa (2012). The methodological approach updates and extends the characterization of the assets profiles offamilies or population groups to accommodate dimensions inherent to the places where they live. Thus, it becomes possible toobserve and measure intra-urban differentials in vulnerability. The results demonstrate the heterogeneity in the vulnerabilityconditions among different regions of the municipalities through surface maps of the socio-ecological vulnerability index (SEVI)and its components for the years 1991 and 2000. In the observation panel, which helps to visualize the multiple dimensions ofvulnerability, we demonstrate how graphic and tabular representations were able to show differences in the degree of families'access to each category of assets, avoiding simplified analyzes based on a synthetic index.
