Expression of NCAM in Postnatal Development of Rat Visual Cortex

Objective: To investigate the expression and role of NCAM in visual cortexes of the rats during different developmental stages. Methods: Forty-two Wistar rats were randomly divided into seven groups including 3 d,14 d,21 d,30 d,45 d,60 d and 90 d groups. All the visual cortexes were taken from them,and the expression of NCAM was determined by immunohistochemistry. The immunohistochemistry stainings were analyzed by automatic image analysis technology. Results: The expression of NCAM in the visual cortexes were present in all ages. The expression was obviously dropped with the age increase. Conclusion: NCAM is a developmental related protein in visual cortex.
