Design of mooring system of oil storage barges in shallow water

1982
A floating type oil storage system has recently been proposed as a new method for stockpiling emergency petroleum reserves. In this system, floating storage barges are moored in shallow water by dolphins with cell type rubber fenders. It is essentially important to analyse the behaviour of the barge under various external environmental conditions in connection with the mooring facilities having non-linear resilient characteristics. A non-linear mathematical model of moored floating storage barge is established through various basic approaches and computer simulations are carried out and the results are discussed from the view point of practical design.
