Lack of detection of cutavirus DNA using PCR real time in Cutaneous T-cell Lymphomas (CTCL).

BACKGROUND: A novel human protoparvovirus named cutavirus has been discovered. We investigated the presence of cutavirus in a sample of Cutaneous T-cell Lymphomas by using PCR real time taqman. METHODS: In total, 55 CTCL samples were analyzed using a Taqman Real time PCR on a 7500 ABI instrument. All of these shown internal control amplification. RESULTS: The presence of cutavirus DNA corresponding was examined. CuV DNA sequences were not detected in any skin specimen. CONCLUSIONS: The role of cutaviruses in cutaneous cancers remains to be investigated.
