Bait application for controlling soil-dwelling insects in sunflower
1989
Abstract Broadcast application of insecticide-treated baits to the soil surface immediately after sowing was shown to be effective in reducing seedling sunflower losses caused by soil-dwelling insects on the Central Highlands, Queensland. Seedling damage increased with variously spaced bait trails. Broadcast application is preferred, but bait trails spaced no more than 2 m apart could be used successfully in the absence of suitable broadcasting equipment.
