The present invention relates to the preparation of the rod-like nanocrystalline tantalum pentoxide / graphene composite photocatalyst disposed tantalum pentoxide precursor solution, an ultrasonic dispersing graphite oxide in the tantalum pentoxide precursor solution, and then through a hydrothermal reaction centrifugal filtration and dried, i.e. a rod prepared nanocrystalline tantalum pentoxide / graphene composite photocatalyst. Compared with the prior art, the present invention utilizes the precursor solution under hydrothermal conditions suitable crystalline orientation of this feature, the control of the tantalum pentoxide is in the form of a rod grown on the graphene prepared to give a rod of tantalum pentoxide nanocrystalline / graphene composite, the method by controlling the morphology of tantalum pentoxide, the resulting alignment state tantalum pentoxide is more conducive to separate photogenerated electron-hole, so that the composite photocatalyst greatly improved catalytic performance.
