Study on entrained flow gasification of coal under ash fusion controlling. (I). Measurement and prediction for gasification reactivity of coals.

The effect of gasification reactivity for four different coals was studied in a laboratoryscale entrained flow gasifier at atmospheric pressure. The gasifier was simulated by simultaneously solving the mass, momentum and energy balances for the solid and gas phases.The observed coal conversion was in the range of 66.6 to 88.4wt%. The gas composition leaving the gasifier and the final coal conversion depended on the oxygen to coal ratio and the coal rank.Good agreement was obtainned between the experimental data and simulation results.
