Coordinated control based Petri Nets for Microgrids including wind farms

2012
Hierarchical coordinated control architectures applied to Microgrids (MG) are a requirement in order to monitor and supervise the power stages involved and to provide some autonomous and smartness behaviour to the grid. In this document, a hierarchical controller based on a Petri Nets methodology to low voltage MG with wind energy is applied. The control strategy designed configures and distributes the local controller actions which are in charge to manage the active and reactive power flow in grid connected and standalone modes, through Voltage Source Converter (VSC) in multi-terminal connections where wind generation are included. Simulation results show the coordination flexibility and adaptability of Petri Nets in different study cases. Finally conclusions and future work are given.
