The purpose of the present research was to reveal the history of the faculty of physical culture of Ural state pedagogical university and institute of physical culture. The institute trains students on the specialties of «Physical culture and sport» and «Life safety». The university activity is directed to maintenance of training of experts and realization of united educational policy in the sphere of physical culture, sport and healthy way of life. The academic council of the institute of physical culture determined for development of sport in the institute basic, priority directions, including: athletics, fitness, woman basketball and sports-mass activity with students of all university faculties. Moreover, the new modern educational-sports building of the university assists in development of sport. One of the mottoes of rector of Ural state pedagogical university is creation of conditions for physical culture and sport, but not just appeal to healthy way of life. New stage of development of student science of the institute of physical culture was creation of student scientific society. Among perspectives of development of the institute is first of all construction of modern sports complex (stadium and pool), that will be the center of sports life not only of the university, but also all the Ordzhonikidze district of Yekaterinburg - one of the largest districts of Russian towns.
