A Textual Study of Master Sui Yuan's Girl Students

2000
Master Sui Yuans girl students, a group of female poetry composers of about 50 members, made up one of Yuan Mei’s Xing Ling schools in the circles of poets in the reign of Emperor Qian Long and Jia Qing. They were mainly from the areas of Suzhou and Hangzhou, closely related with the economy, the cultural development and the ideological emancipation of the southern Yangtze Valley of China. They enjoyed support from Yuan Mei and their poetry was characteristic of Xing Ling poetry. Therefore, they occupied a very important position in the history of Chinese poetry.
