Electron affinities of the U2Fn molecules (8⩽ n ⩽12)

Abstract The U 2 F 10 − and U 2 F 11 − ions have been detected in the vapor over the UF 4 -CuF 2 mixture. Use has been made of the ion-molecule equilibrium method, which combines the Knudsen effusion with the mass spectrometric detection of ions formed within a cell. Equilibrium constants for reactions in which these ions take part were measured, and their enthalpies of formation have been determined. Electron affinities of U 2 F n molecules (8 ⩽ n ⩽ 12) are calculated.
