RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF GLASS FIBER REINFORCED HIGHLY FLOWABLE CEMENT PASTE

2008
The use of highly flowable cement paste (HFCP), as a new technology product, is especially preferred for the rehabilitation and repair of reinforced concrete structures. The use of fibers depending on the fiber type may considerably increase the toughness, energy absorption capacity, reduce cracking, improve the impact resistance and durability of cement based materials. glass fiber reinforcement can be an excellent solution for bending and tensile resistance problem of HFCP. Despite the vast benefits of utilizing fiber in improving mechanical properties of concrete in hardened state, there is some evidence that fibers decrease workability of concrete. In this study, the the maximum possible amount of fiber addition, which maintain the flowability, was determined for pastes incorporating glass fibers. Therefore nine paste mixtures were prepared with and without glass fibers. The workability and rheological properties of fresh fiber reinforced cement paste are investigated by mini slump and mini V-funnel.
