ADViCE over grid services: initial deployment

2003
The complexity of computational grid applicationsand their environments has been increased due to theheterogeneity of resources; complexity, continuouschanges of the applications as well as the resourcesstates, and the large number of resources involved.Current runtime systems for Grid computing mainlyfocus on executing applications with static resourceconfiguration and do not adequately change theconfiguration of application execution environmentsdynamically to optimize the application performance. In this paper, we present an architectural overview ofthe ADViCE-G (Adaptive Virtual DistributedComputing Environment for Globus), a PSE portalrunning over Globus, and show how ADViCE-G canoptimize the application execution at runtime based onapplication requirements. We have implemented theADViCE-G prototype and currently evaluating theprototype and its adaptive services for a larger set ofGrid applications.
