A Simulation Study on Optical Signal Propagation Characteristics of Partial Discharge in Single-core and Three-cores GIL

2018
Gas insulated metal enclosed transmission line (GIL) is gradually replacing traditional overhead lines and high voltage cables due to its large transmission capacity and low loss. As the basis of studying optical detection of partial discharge (PD), it is necessary to pay attention to the propagation characteristics of PD signals in GIL. Simulation models of the single-core and three-core GIL are established, and parameters of different detection points and planes of the optical signal generated by partial discharge are observed and compared. The results show that in different cavities, the color and symmetry of the detection plane are different, and the horizontal position of the PD source affects the spot and relative irradiance. The optical signals on the detection plane of single-core and three-core GIL have similar changes.
