Trans-thoracic sympathectomy—an improved technique

SummaryTrans-thoracic electro-cautery (TTEC) is now regarded as the treatment of choice for hyperhidrosis. The complication rate is low, and many of these are preventable. Consequently, we have adapted our own technique, which we now report along with the results of our first 30 cases. In particular, we would emphasize insertion of the cannula by blunt dissection and the performance of a trans-thoracic sympathectomy instead of simply electro-cautery.
