O Brasil na perspectiva latino-americana: Uma análise de cobertura da rede integracionista TeleSUR

The TeleSUR network emerged in 2005 as a counter-hegemonic communication alternative for Latin America. With the motto “Our north is the South”, the news channel has the perspective of integrating the countries of the region. Our objective is to understand how Brazil is presented in the news coverage of the pan-regional network. For this, we analyzed 462 news items published on the channel’s portal that mention the word “Brazil”. The collection was carried out between April and August 2020. Among the categories analyzed are periodization, specific subjects, geographic distribution and political actors mentioned. The result indicated that TeleSUR broadcasts mainly political issues about Brazil and that involve the government and the opposition. Indigenous peoples and social movements have also gained considerable space in the news.
