The role of the enteric nervous system regulating food transport in the small intestine will be reviewed. Studies on electrical activities of both Auerbach's and Meissner's plexuses in relation to the Law of the Intestine were the main concern of the present author who devoted himself almost entirely to this field of research. An insight into the possible interaction of brain-gut peptides with the enteric nerve plexuses was also established
