The invention discloses a nickel-based catalyst, an active component of the catalyst comprises NiO, an auxiliary active component comprises one or more of Co3O4, Fe2O3, RuO2, Rh2O3, PtO2 and PdO, a modifier comprises one or more of CaO, MgO, K2O, Na2O, Li2O, BaO and CeO2, and a carrier comprises one or more of Al2O3, TiO2, SiO2, MgO, CeO2, ZrO2, spinel, periclase, perovskite and Y type molecular sieve. The invention also discloses a catalyst moulding method and an application of the catalyst in a methane reforming reaction. By improving the catalyst formula and employing the special moulding technology, activity, stability, sintering resistance strength and anti-carbon deposition performance of the catalyst can be increased, the catalyst is used for a plurality of methane reforming reactions of dry reforming, moisture reforming, partial oxidation reforming and natural gas combustion, and the methane conversion rate can reach 80-100%.
