Feira de São Cristóvão: aspectos econômicos, sociais, históricos, e culturais na maior representação nordestina na cidade do Rio de Janeiro

In 2020, the Feira dos Nordestinos celebrates its seventy-five years of foundation, on the streets of the traditional neighborhood of Sao Cristovao, in the city of the Rio de Janeiro. Amid the importance of this fair for the culture of Rio, especially for migrants who currently continue to come from the Northeast to the capital of Rio de Janeiro, there is a lack of socioeconomic studies on the Feira and its components. In this perspective, the present work proposes a socioeconomic survey of the Feira de Sao Cristovao, which allows the construction of recent data about the Feira from which a critical analysis can be established in the light of economic theory that allows the incorporation of different points of view to understand the Fair and the importance of its perpetuation in the Rio scene. The study carried out under two methodologies - field research and bibliographic review -, explains the role of macroeconomic and regional policy on the formation and consolidation of the fair, as well as the peculiarities and problems experienced by marketers throughout 2019, pointing to the strengthening of cultural traits and creative political organization as crucial factors for overcoming them
