The reaction of sulphur dioxide with water and a halogen. The case of iodine: reaction in presence of organic solvents
1980
Abstract Experimental work on the reaction of SO 2 , H 2 O and I 2 is described in this paper. This reaction gives rise to separation problems which may be overcome by the use of a large excess of SO 2 and/or by the addition of suitable organic solvents. The results obtained with SO 2 only and with addition of diethylether and TBP are discussed, also in view of application of this reaction in possible thermochemical cycles.
