Evaporation regimes of binary solutions

2007
The evaporation of binary solutions from an open reservoir at specified values of vapor-component concentrations at the upper boundary (analog of the Rayleigh-Bernard problem) is numerically simulated. The calculation takes into account the Rayleigh convection in the approximation of two-dimensional flows. It is shown that the steady-state regimes of evaporation are characterized by different evaporation rates and outlet vapor compositions depending on the distribution of the concentration of vapor components over the height of the layer at the initial moment of time. The pattern of convective flows is discussed.
