Determination of Sisal Pectin Content by Carbazole Colorimetric Method

A method is described for the determination of pectin content in sisal pectin by carbazole colorimetric method,experiment conditions were investigated in detail and the optimum conditions were found as follows: sulphuric acid 6.0 mL,hydrolytic temperature 70 ℃,hydrolytic time 20 min,0.15 % carbazole absolute ethanol's solution 0.5 mL,color reactions were carried out under room temperature,reaction time 30 min,The method has been applied successfully to actual samples and satifactory results are obtained.
