High coercivity quasicrystals

Abstract Ferromagnetic Al 6 Ge 18 Mn 21 and Al 40 Cu 10 Ge 25 Mn 25 quasicrystals are produced by the melt spinning technique. The high coercivity in these materials is investigated by analyzing the hysteresis behavior of both as-quenched and annealed samples. The highest coercive field can be observed for the crystallized materials after a well defined heat treatment.
