Abstract Quantitative evaluation of gas chromatographically separated steroids from the products of breakthrough time and peak height. Several steroids were separated by gas chromatography using flame ionisation detection. The peaks obtained were evaluated quantitatively from the products of peak height, breakthrough time and a correction factor (ratio of molecular weight to carbon number). The standard deviation in this procedure was found to be 4.8% with free steroids, 6.9% with the acetates and 10.5% with the trimethylsilyl ethers. Thus the quantitative determination of several steroids in one chromatogram is possible without integration of the peak areas and with the use of one standard only.
