Comparision of MRA, CDFI and indirect DSA in display of portal system in portal hypertension patients

2001
Objective To evaluate the application of MRA (Magnetic resonance angiography), CDFI (Color doppler flow image) and indirect portal vein DSA (Digital subtraction angiography) in display of portal system and shunt branch in portal hypertension patients. Methods 32 cases of portal hypertension underwent MRA examination and 20 cases were subject to the examination of CDFI and indirect portal DSA respectively. Results In all cases underwent MRA examination, 93.75% LGV (Left gastric vein), 87.5% SGV (Short gastric vein), 6.25% open UV (Umbilical vein) shunt, 15.62% spontaneous spleen-renal shunt branches, 37.5% PGV (Post gastric vein) and 28.13% post-peritoneal shunt branches were displayed, with one case of main portal vein embolism discovered; CDFI displayed 80% LGV, 5% SGV and 10% open UV shunt, with the discovery of one case of spleen vein embolism and one case of MPV (main portal vein) spongiformation; the display rate of indirect DSA to LGV, SGV and open UV shunt was 80%, 45% and 25% respectively. Conclusion MRA contributed to the understanding of portal vein system and shunt branches with a more comprehensive and informative display.
