A Trial of Intravenous Immunoglobulin for Prevention of CMV Infection After Marrow Transplantation

1985
A prospective controlled study was undertaken to establish whether intravenous immunoglobulin could prevent infectious complications arising in the first 100 days after bone marrow transplantation (BMT). Three previous open studies of passive immunisation have indicated a protective effect against cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection, which is the principal infective complication of BMT. An important part of the analysis in our study was to establish the effect of the immunoglobulin on the incidence of CMV infections.
