Preparation and characterization of poly(ether sulfone)/MC nylon6 in-situ composite

2008
The anion ring-open polymerization was employed to prepare the poly(ether sul- phone)(PES)/nylon6 in-situ composites and the interactions among thee-caprolactam(CL),PES and nylon0 were also studied. It indicated that the PES could be uniformly dispersed in melte-caprolactam with small domains depending on the strong interaction between the components,The hydrogen bonding was formed between the hydrogen atom on acid amide groups and the sulphone on PES resulting in the process of the dissolution of PES in melte-caprolactam being greatly accelerated. The process of its thermal decomposition was also heavily inhibited and the thermo stability was greatly increased because of the strong interaction between the nylon0 and PES.Only adding 2% PES into the composite, the thermal decomposition temperature was increased 79℃compared with the pure nylon6.As the PES content was more than 4% in the composite, the mechanical strength was slightly decreased, but the toughness of the material was hugely increased.
