Chapter 5 – Cardiovascular Imaging in Aneurysm-Osteoarthritis Syndrome

2017
Abstract Aneurysms-Osteoarthritis syndrome (AOS) is an aggressive connective tissue disorder characterized by arterial tortuosity, aneurysms, and osteoarthritis. Dissections can occur at smaller aortic diameters compared to other connective tissue disorders, such as Marfan syndrome, meaning that vigilant monitoring is warranted. Disorders associated with AOS include hypertrophy of the left ventricle, bicuspid aortic valve, persistent ductus arteriosus, and arterial aneurysm formation elsewhere in the body. This chapter describes imaging techniques used to evaluate cardiovascular abnormalities in patients with AOS.
