Design and testing of a network of sensors on land surfaces to prevent landslides

2016
This paper presents a wireless measurement system used for monitoring of structural geological problems, and of stability in areas prone to landslides. It was designed as a network of positioned sensor which was distributed over the study site in order to determine changes in the surface and evaluate in the occurrence of landslide, the measured data is sent using wireless communication modules at a frequency of 433Mhz. The data from each sensor is received at a terminal which processes the information, compares initial data with measured data and determines whether to generate an alarm. A 3D graphical interface was designed with the sensors positioned for visual verification. Several tests were performed to simulate changes in an area in which the system worked with a percentage error below 5% and inclinations higher than 10°. It was established that the maximum angle of inclination to ensure the proper functioning of the system was 60°.
