The invention relates to a vision positioning system and a positioning method for laser processing. The vision positioning system comprises a control console, a U-shaped rotary workbench, a light path X-axis and Y-axis linkage transmission device, a laser head, a camera, an LED (light-emitting diode) illumination component, a casing, an electric appliance box and a liquid crystal displayer, wherein the casing is fixedly connected with the U-shaped rotary workbench, and the light path X-axis and Y-axis linkage transmission device is connected with the laser head and drives the laser head to move in the X-axis direction and Y-axis direction; the camera and the LED illumination component are arranged at the top of the casing, the camera corresponds to the lifting U-shaped rotary workbench, and the electric appliance box is arranged on the lower portion of the casing, controls the U-shaped rotary workbench and the light path X-axis and Y-axis linkage transmission device to operate and meanwhile controls laser emission of the laser head. The vision positioning system and the positioning method have the advantages that a machined object can be automatically positioned and can be corrected to a right machining position; compared with a manual positioning mode in the prior art, the vision positioning method is higher in precision and speed.
