Analytical Investigation of a High Precision Reflector

With the advancing of space systems, the Graphite Fiber Reinforced Composite reflector technology is getting more and more attentions. This study tried to analytically investigate the geometrical error introduced by in-orbit thermal distorsion and fabrication. Two analytical procedures are developed and used to optimize the design of a reflector. With the help of these analysis procedures, the in-orbit and fabrication errors of a Graphite Fiber Reinforced Composite reflector can be significantly reduced. The performance of a reflecotr can thus be considiably improved.
