Experimental design for the determination of coefficients in coupled non‐symmetric first order systems: The multicomponent diaphragm cell

The diaphragm cell method for experimentally determining multicomponent liquid diffusivities is optimized. An exact matrix solution of the coupled, non-symmetric, first order, linear, differential equations which presents a slightly different viewpoint is given. Optimum experimental conditions are defined for ternary systems for both single determinations and multiples of a single determination. On decrit une solution a matrice exacte pour les equations differentielles lineaires, de premier ordre, asymetriques et assemblees; la dite solution presente un point de vue legerement different. On indique les conditions experimentales optimales pour les systemes ternaires pour des determinations simples et multiples. On peut appliquer la methode a n'importe quel nombre de composants.
