Vasoactive Peptides from the Vespa Orientalis Hornet Venom

1989
Among various bioregulators the considerable place is occupied by vasoactive peptides, in particular, by kinins, the functions of which are connected with regulation of important biochemical and physiological processes in the organism, leading off with the effect on blood pressure and including the induction of painful reaction. The functional properties of vasoactive peptides are manifested at concentrations range of 10-11mol/g of tissue, but the direct application of kinins in medical practice is limited by their in vivo unstability towards the specialized enzyme systems. Apparently, that the resolution of this problem and that of directed synthesis of kinin hormones having prolonged activity will require the extensive investigation of structural and functional properties of vasoactive peptides from natural sources, the most appropriate of which are hymenoptera venoms.
