The results of a comparative analysis of the impact of socio-economic conditions in the assessment of the quality of life of representatives of urban and rural population of the Kola Peninsula are presented in the article. Indicators such as remoteness of residence in the North of the gender and age characteristics, marital status, occupation, level of comfort living conditions and others were involved for the study. A range of incomes as the subjective indicator of the economic situation of the respondents' answers were used. Quality of life was evaluated on the basis of the average sample values of the indicators of quality of life on a 5-point scale. It has been shown that the social component is more important for a sense of comfort for the life of the rural population than economic. Overall, the study showed that the range of estimates of the quality of life in rural and urban respondents, based on the indicators used, varies from poor to satisfactory, never reaching a value of «good». And only in the rural respondents living in the village Krasnoshchelye, the average life satisfaction score was 3,5 points.
