Solid phase formation in air-condensing installations at low cooling-air temperatures

2003
The theoretical and experimental aspects of the process of solid phase formation in an air-condensing installation are discussed. A mathematical model of this process has been developed on the basis of Nusselt's classical problem that provides for rather precise agreement with the experimental data. The proposed model may be found useful for estimating ice formation conditions at the design stage of the air-condensing installation. A number of experiments were conducted on an experimental facility for a prototype module of the air-condensing installation. Rather good agreement between the experimental and the calculated data has been attained.
