Smart charging effects on Electric Vehicle charging behavior in terms of Power Quality

This paper intends to provide an overview of test results regarding the behavior of electric vehicle (EV) embedded chargers at various operating points. These results were obtained thanks to the development of a laboratory test bench that automatizes EV charging scenarios. This bench allows to check if each individual EV is suitable for smart charging, to assess its impact in terms of power quality on the network, and to assess its sensitivity to deteriorated grid conditions. Several successful tests are described as well as particular phenomena that appeared when testing some EVs.
