2019
Objective To explore the effect of birth ball during delivery process on paternity experience of primiparae’s husbands. Methods The prospective research method was used. , 300 singleton primiparae with head delivery having no operation indications and no birth ball contraindications, having their husbands accompanying them during the whole labor, and asking for using birth ball when their labor got near, and who were hospitalized at our hospital from June to September, 2017, were selected as an observation group. And 300 primiparae with the same conditions but not using birth ball were selected from the same period as a control group. These two groups took one to one responsibility midwifery, and their family members accompanied them during the whole labor without charge. The women were transferred out from the delivery room and within two hours after delivery, the husbands were asked to fill the self-designed regular information questionnaire form and the expectant father paternity experience question form and handed them in immediately. The results were observed and compared. Results The scores of self-perception and the impression on their wives and newborns were much better in the observation group than in the control group (both P<0.05). The scores of neonate experience and the experience on staff and environment were higher in the observation group than in the control group, but with no statistical differences. Conclusion Birth ball in delivery process is able to enhance the paternity experience of primiparae’s husbands, and meets the women and family members’ need.
