Archaeological Research and the British in Latin America

Historical archaeologists have made tremendous strides in understanding and interpreting European colonialism in the Americas. Much of the analysis has centered on eastern North America and more recently on Spanish America. Fewer researchers have investigated the myriad roles the English and later the British have played in the cultural history of Latin America. But, English interest in Latin America extends to the earliest days of the so-called Age of Exploration, and archaeological research has much to reveal about past daily life in the region.
