Comparative Analysis of Control Schemes in Grid Connected PV System

2018
Distributed Generation (DG) model is familiar at the distribution plane to develop the profit of the local renewable generation. To meet the requirements of grid integration and for the proper functioning of the DG system, the appropriate control topology should be enhanced to offer seamless transition, safety, protection, voltage balance and frequency stability in grid coupled and islanding approach. Islanding is a very critical and unsafe condition for the utility workers and it may prevent automatic re-connection of devices. For that DG scheme have to identify the islanding condition and must exchange to a operating mode. Here, in the grid connected mode, the controller is operating in the current control mode to offer stipulated power to the grid but its inject large harmonics component into the grid. For that, a sliding mode control scheme is implemented instead of the current control scheme and compared to check the performance of the different control scheme on mode transition and total harmonic distortion of DG unit. The grid connected PV scheme is demonstrated in the MATLAB Simulink environment.
