The analysis of divergence angle of collimated beams

Abstract Normally, the beam divergence angle is estimated by help of the ratio of the wavelength and the aperture of the collimating system, i.e., λ / d . This method is too inaccurate for a quantitative analysis of the collimating system. In this paper, a convenient method to analyze the divergence performance of a collimating system is presented. We can get the conclusion that the divergence performance of the collimating system depends strongly on the source distribution. Therefore, it is more convenient to design a collimating system than ever, and improve the accuracy of the collimating system.
